Stop Smoking Forever

By Masha Kuilboer

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. It is a very positive change that you bring to your life and you will be amazed at the quality of life you will be able to enjoy without your dependence on nicotine. However, nicotine is a very addictive symptom and can make quitting smoking difficult. It is important for you to know what to expect when you quit smoking so that you are able to handle it effectively. Don't be surprised if you suffer from withdrawal symptoms for up to 10 days after you quit. It is normal for you to feel the symptoms of flu, upset stomach, etc. when you quit smoking. You are also likely to be irritable, anxious, angry and even depressed soon after you quit smoking. These symptoms will pass. You may want to consult a doctor if you are concerned about the effects of these symptoms on your health.[]

Secondly, there seem to be a lot of 'good advice' out there about willpower that can help you to stop. Although some will-power is needed to take the initial steps towards becoming a non-smoker, applying too much of your will-power and pushing too hard to never smoke again, will have exactly the opposite effect. Instead, follow the top tips below and surprise yourself at just how easy it can be to relax creatively into the new non-smoking you.

Please note that the more you actively carry out and engage with the tips below, the more you increase your chance of success. Good luck!Be clear about your reasons for wanting to stop.Create a list with your reasons for wanting to stop smoking. What will the benefits be? List all the things that you dislike about smoking or the things that you are fed up with that relates to smoking. This could potentially include things such as the smell, putting yourself out socially as a result, the cost involved, the negative effects on your body, etc.Set a date and commit to it.

The digging method. After you are done with step 2, its time for the killer move. This might sound gross, but it should also work for you. After you are done with the chain smoking, here is the next thing you should do: put your finger into your throat and start to wriggle around, as if you are looking for something that is trapped in your throat. This action is sure to make you puke! IMPORTANT POINT TO TAKE NOTE: DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE UNSURE! This method is supposed to make you feel worse and create a psychological effect that smoking is horrible and that you should quit now!The 3 steps that I have suggested works perfectly well for me, and I have not touched a cigarette ever since.

You will be happy to know that cravings do not last. If you have a craving, find the balance between trying to ignore the discomfort and talking/focussing on it too much. Instead, be aware of the discomfort and turn it to your advantage by using the excess energy to exercise or enjoy a favourite hobby. Or you can simply distract yourself. Take it one day at a time.Instead of thinking that you might never smoke again, tell yourself that you are only not going to smoke for one day. Then do another day and another, until you have done your first week.Deal with cravings by substitution.

If you find inducing the desire difficult you will need to be creative to really understand how to quit smoking. Watching other smokers light cigarettes can be helpful. Smelling your cigarettes in the packet or, if you used to make your own, rolling one up should produce the desire to smoke. For some people, imagining that they are smoking is the best way to connect with their desire to smoke. If you are really stuck in repression, buying a new pack of your favourite brand and taking the cellophane off may do the trick.

Sometimes people flirt with smoking, testing their limits to the point of putting a cigarette in their mouth and lighting a match. It's not necessary to go this far: just looking at cigarettes in the pack should be enough for you to get in touch with your choice and desire to smoke them.

Out of Sight, but Not Out of Mind. Some people avoid resolving this conflict by ignoring their desire and quite often feel confident that they have conquered their addiction. One of the more unhelpful things about repression is that, at the time you use it, it appears to be effective, and is therefore rarely perceived as being a problem. You can see from your own experience that it is a problem, though, if you have ever stopped before. The first cigarette you smoked when you went back to smoking was preceded by a desire to smoke, even though you may have only been dimly aware of that desire at the time.

A friend of mine, James, who attended a quit smoking program, gave an ideal example of this. He told me that at his last attempt, three years ago, he decided to stop smoking at the same time that he was going to redecorate his house. In other words, his strategy was to avoid as much of the difficulty of stopping smoking as he could by keeping busy painting and hanging paper. He threw his cigarettes away and got rid of anything that might remind him of the smoker he used to be. The plan appeared to work and he managed to stop smoking with very little difficulty. He stayed stopped for a month, with smoking totally forgotten, until something happened that took him by surprise.

Natural herbs may cause adverse effects to medications you are currently using. It is best to consult your doctor for the use and dosage of any herbal supplement or treatment that uses natural herbs before using them.Buy natural herbs only from trusted dealers. The web may be a great resource of knowledge about herbal remedies but can also be a haven for scammers. Look for FDA approved sites that supply safe natural herbs. Do not go for fly by night offers and fantastic companies that offer money back guarantees. They may just be out there to get your money and credit information when you pay online.Check how natural herbal supplements are prepared before you buy them. When herbs are dried and moisture removed for processing and packaging, herbs may lose their therapeutic abilities. It is best to look for herbs that are prepared more naturally and faster after harvest so that nutrients and the therapeutic properties are preserved. The use of natural herbs in quitting smoking may only be successful if combined with smoker's education and other alternative remedies. It is still best to consult your doctor regarding the ideal quitting smoking treatment for you so you can stop smoking for good.

Should Ladies Stay Away From Weights In The Gym?

By Howe Russ

Should women lift weights or will they wind up looking big and bulky, a look which most females don't want? Alongside HIIT, this is one of the most popular questions in fitness clubs today.

Every couple of years a new exercise trend hits the market. Usually it's something which has been around for years, but has suddenly been brought back into the mainstream after being repackaged or endorsed by a celebrity trainer. The last few years have seen the reemergence of kettlebell training, boxercise and boot camps. This year, the trend is set by high intensity interval training and resistance workouts. []

That's right, women around the world are suddenly finding the confidence the ask about using resistance training on a regular basis. While trainers around the world are undoubtedly rejoicing in this, the fact is most ladies are still buying into a few of the old myths which used to surround this subject, most notably:

* If girls lift weights they will get big and bulky.

* Women need to use very light dumbbells only.

* Women need to do low resistance and high repetitions to tone up.

* Girls who have strong legs should avoid weights because they'll make them even bigger.

Despite the fact that the myths above have been dis-proven so many times, they still exist in most gyms and health clubs. While regular exercise enthusiasts know them to be false, the mainstream still overwhelmingly buys into the myth that women should avoid resistance training for the reasons shown above.

The simple answer is yes, women should be using resistance training in their workout if they are to achieve the toned, lean look most ladies desire to own.

Three of the issues in the myths above can be solved with one short statement. The female body does not release anywhere near enough testosterone as the male body. Therefore, if a lady wanted to get big she'd have to work considerably hard at it, it's not something which can happen overnight or by accident. Female bodybuilders have to supplement their diet with testosterone boosters and other products to pack on considerable size.

After all, if building muscle really was as simple as just picking up a weight then most men at the gym would look like Sylvester Stallone. But they do not. Do not concern yourself with this myth.

The ironic thing is that most ladies who are terrified of resistance training list fat loss as their main fitness goal. Fat loss is one of the biggest benefits to a regular resistance training program. Your body experiences a phenomenon known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, E.P.O.C. for short, in which you continue to power through calories at an increased level well after you finish training. It's also one of the best ways to tone up a body part you consider to be bulky at the moment, i.e. legs.

So, should women lift weights in the gym? Certainly! If you are trying to build a leaner physique this year then the combination of HIIT and regular resistance workouts will push your results to a whole new level.
