Three Ways to Slow down, De-stress and Create Balance Your Life

When your life seems out of control and you have endless demands tugging at you from all directions, it isn't difficult to feel overpowered, fatigued - and just plain stressed. Believe it to be true or not, balancing your life does not require huge changes. You don't have to quit your job, desert your folks and escape to a remote retreat so as to feel tranquil and content. In reality true balance is something that starts within you above all - regardless of what else is occurring in your outer life circumstances.

Below you will find 3 simple paths to begin building a larger sense of inner peace and harmony:

1) Quiet time.

One of the first things we sacrifice when we are busy is our personal time. Instead we devote all our energy and attention to caring for others, multi tasking, meeting responsibilities and "being productive." Over time this uses our energy and we begin to feel more weighed down by our responsibilities.

To live a balanced life, quiet time to you is vital. You may believe that you don't have any time available for yourself, but something wonderful occurs when you habitually make time; you find yourself feeling happier and more energetic, your focus improves - and you get lots done. Just a few minutes spent sitting quietly in meditation or reading a book can perform miracles in transforming stress into peace and happiness.

2) Self-care.

Beyond making time for things you like, there are other paths to nurture and love yourself on a day-to-day basis. Getting a full 8 hours of sleeping (or as much as you individually need) is a good start, as well as eating healthy food, exercising daily and talking kindly to yourself.

Ever realized that when you're actually beat or stressed, even the smallest problem can feel like a nightmare? From another viewpoint, when you're feeling well-rested and targeted, you are much better in a position to handle upsets. Caring for yourself is one sure way to solidly replenish your energy, inner peace and joy - meaning you may have the strength to handle whatever comes your way.

3) Suppleness.

Are you aware that one of the largest reasons behind stress is rigid expectations ? We all do it occasionally; get a psychological picture of how our lives "should be" - and get seriously annoyed when our outer circumstances don't cooperate. These inner changes can make a dramatic difference in your state of contentment, but you may additionally want to examine your outer life circumstances and see if there are other tiny changes you can make to aid in supporting your internal work.

For instance, you may decide to let go of certain requirements that are no longer significant or pleasurable to you. Because you agreed to host weekly conferences for a support group three years back doesn't imply you have to carry on doing it forever - particularly if it's become a drain on your resources.
