About The Famous Catholic Renewal

By Tracie Knight

The Catholic Church is probably the biggest and the most influential institution that has ever existed in the entire world. Of course if one is a strong worshipper, then he will probably know about the major changes that the church underwent throughout the years which is known as the Catholic renewal. Now for those who are not familiar with this period of time, here is a brief overview of what it was all about.

Now before the whole church was revamped and transformed into the entity it is today, it went through three major changes during the twentieth century. Now the three changes that happened before the twentieth century ended was the translation of the Word, the modification of liturgy, and of course the new defining of faith in the lives of the worshippers. It was because of these three changes that the Vatican was able to adapt to its followers.

Now the very first stage was the translation of the Bible from Latin to contemporary languages. Before the transformation, the Bible always made use of Vulgate which is a fourth century translation of the Bible in the Latin language. During this time, the church revamped the whole Bible and translated it into languages that everyone could actually understand.

Now the one who lead the translation was Pope Pius XII. Now what they did was that they got the original text and studied it carefully so that they could make direct translations of it. They did this so that the original text would not lose its original essence.

Now the second change that the Vatican implemented was the change in liturgical services. Now a liturgy in a nutshell, is the term used for services that worshippers would attend in order to praise God and learn more about the Word of God. Now during this time, the Second Council made the liturgies a little less formal than before and called it a Mass instead of a liturgy.

This stage on the other hand only started when the Second Vatican Council came into power. Now this council was lead by the famous Pope John XXIII and was closed by Pope Paul VI. It was during their reign that the liturgical practices were modified a little bit in order to adapt to modern times so that more and more followers would be able to relate.

Now the very last one is the third one and is still going on until today. Now if one would remember that during the older times, the church would be very strict with their formal practices. Of course nowadays, they now have a more personal definition of faith.

So basically, these are the changes that the the Vatican made in order to become what it is today. The Catholic Church still continues to evolve even up to today because times are also changing as well and even something as big as the Vatican also has to adapt in some ways. It was actually because of this renewal period that it was able to connect to more people.
