Happiness isn't somethign that just shows up in our lives whenever we feel like it. Happiness depends on our actions.
End your pursuit of happiness.
Perhaps Hollywood, magazines, talk shows etc. wouldn't really like this controversial idea too much because it would cut back on viewership if people followed through with it, but I am actually going to say it again. End your pursuit of happiness.
Rather, begin to recognize that it is in our daily actions and expansion in life that we actually find accomplishment, and in the final analysis, deep and true happiness.
I'm not suggesting that happiness isn't a critical aspect in each of our lives - it would be ignorant to claim such a thing. What I am simply proposing is that maybe there is a different trail we can take that will guide us to larger amounts of happiness throughout our life. Possibly we should be aiming more about the development of our mind, body, and soul every day in little increments to guarantee that we are continually growing and evolving in positive ways? This could be a engaging alternate track to take instead of always looking for something that we will never actually grasp onto.
If we are consistently growing, we feel that we are making progress in our lives and are thus happy with how things are going. Nevertheless aimlessly searching for an emotion that can't be gripped onto like other emotion we experience seems a bit hopeless when it comes down to it. There must be another way of doing things which will help us become more successful in life ultimately.
So what if you tried on this way of doing things for a bit and permitted yourself to focus on development instead of happiness?
Who can say what might happen?
All I know is that development in life is connected to personal growth and development and that happiness is not far behind.
Food for thought.
