How To Organize A Successful Leadership Development Training Program

By Virginia Green

Many are times when you get invitations for training in different places. Some of the trainings are significant for your business while others you can opt not to attend. Before the meetings come into being, they take a lot of preparations of which if they are not planned properly, they become a total sham. If you are planning on organizing any form of leadership development training and you have no idea on how to do it, then you will find the ideas in this article quite resourceful.

Every meeting that brings different career women and men together must have a concrete theme. The title of the theme is what will determine whether people will attend or not. Therefore, it should be focused on the current issues in both business and corporate world. Research on the most disturbing issues and find their solution before including it in the invitation letter as the theme.

Whatever your theme will be based on, you have to identify facilitators who have talent in those subjects. For instance, if the existing problem concerns the stock exchange rates, invite officials from that sector and ensure they have good communication skills. Moreover, they should agree to receive reasonable fees for the entire session that they will be facilitating. The wrong choice of facilitators will cause uproar among the attendants.

The next step is to identify the venue where these trainings will be held. The exercise cannot be held in the same place more than once. Most of these leaders enjoy the trainings and being exposed to new environments will trigger their interests to participate. Find a venue that the entire participant would be happy to attend. However, you have to be conscious about its charges.

No coaching can be conducted on free basis apart from a small number of sponsored leaders. Before you decide on the amount of money that every participant shall pay, consider some costs such as venue hire, catering services, facilitation fee, and other costs that arise during the training. With these details, you will now make an informed decision on what a participant shall pay.

After getting the amount payable for each participant and a venue, start sending invitation letters. These letters should carry your letterhead, the names of the facilitators, theme of the teaching and topics that will be covered. With such information, the attendees will be aware of what they are coming to do and eager to listen. Remember to include the contacts of the host and direction of the venue to avoid confusion among your participants.

Weeks before the scheduled for the start of the workshop will be the most tedious periods for the entire workshop. As an organizer, you will have to verify that everything perfect condition before your guests arrive. The accommodation facilities and the training hall should have everything ready before the session is about to begin.

Equipment hire is another thing that has to be taken care of some days before the beginning of the workshop. Get working speakers, microphones, projectors and audio-video machines ready for the facilitators. Also, make sure there is a backup system somewhere to avoid confusion when one of them fails in the middle of a presentation.
