A Few Conversations With Jesus Would Surprise Many People

By Gloria Mason

During the time Jesus was walking the Earth, everyone who came into contact with him gained something from those conversations. It involved knowledge that they needed to handle the times and various people they dealt with. These conversations with Jesus surprised the people of his day as they would certainly surprise people today and even more so.

Politicians would be surprised at what Jesus actually said and meant. They do not follow what some would call the what did Jesus do question with valid decisions. They keep their own council which is a very large departure from what could be gained if they undertook a reading of the word. The concentration they give to legislation that goes against it could be used in more productive ways.

One of the many topics that would be discussed, if possible, would be war. The betterment of society would be the basis for his answers. The living of the life he has prescribed for us would be the base form which all decisions would be made. It would not be centered around the religious differences as he is the author of the tolerance he requires from all.

A famous phrase of his about peace makers being blessed is well known but misunderstood. He encouraged his followers to take up their swords and follow him. He did not encourage senseless violence and was the first to administer first aid to his enemies even as they were arresting him. Gun control would not be on his list of things to have done to people.

When discussing abortion, the visitor gets an entirely different idea than what is in the media. People are divided about this issue now and they were not divided about this issue then. It has no bearing on what is the proper way to care for family members, born or unborn. He would be the first to state that science, in the form of Latin words, defining the term fetus as an unborn person.

The basic differences between men and women have a root in the teachings of all of the Old and New Testament. He would make sure that they have a firm grip on all of the things he would say in answer to any question. The conversations one would have with him would, of necessity, be questions and not lectures to him as his very nature would quell any of those thoughts.

The basic assumptions about what would Jesus do about or in any of the situations in which anyone finds themselves will have proven to be wrong. The surprises would come not because they have not been voiced before but because the passion for which they are adhered to, by him, is impressive. The very soundness of his statements would hold people in awe of his ability to understand what they are going through and get right to the core of their beliefs and misunderstandings.

The desire to have conversations with Jesus would be put forth as an intellectual exercise only. Those people would know that the answers they get would not fit in to the plans they have. They realize what those plans would look like when compared to the unconditional love, tolerance, religious and social activities that this man would suggest as the best course of action.
